Step by step tutorial: the low chignon

Step 1: Create a side parting. This style is easier to create on hair that is not squeaky clean so that there is more texture for the hair tie to grip and hold on to.

Step 2: Backcomb the front section of the hair to create a light wave at the front of the head. Clip this section down and tuck your bobby pin out of sight to keep your hair voluminous.

Step 3: If you want to copy the Dior look perfectly, run a pea sized amount of gel throughout your hair. This will give a subtle wet-look and a healthy shine to your locks.

Step 4: Tie your lengths into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck. Secure with a hair elastic and spray with hairspray to tame any frizzy flyaways.

Step 5: Twist the length of the ponytail around the elastic. Make sure you gather every strand of hair into the chignon to create a neat effect.

Step 6: Once you have created your low chignon and no strands are flying loose, secure with bobby pins to keep your bun in place all day long.

Step 7: Spray evenly with hairspray for a long-lasting finish.
