How to look after thick hair
Is your thick hair driving you crazy? Our pros give their top tips for taming your locks, nourishing your hair and finding the perfect style.
Thick hair doesn’t really need a specific haircare routine. ‘Opt for haircare products based on your hair type, be it curly, dry, colored or greasy. Nevertheless, thick hair does have one defining characteristic; it’s notoriously difficult to detangle! A wide-tooth comb is an absolute must-have to make light work of your thick mane, as well as some sort of leave-in detangling conditioner which should follow your shampoo. This will soften your hair, making it easier to manage’.
If your hair is thick and flat, it sounds like you need to change your style. ‘Products alone will not help you achieve more volume. It’s all about getting the right cut. Try going for some subtle layers which will help lift your look. Similarly, avoid using greasy formulas as they will only weigh it down further. Our top tip? Before styling, apply some Texture Powder at the roots to lift them and boost volume’.
Our advice: Is your thick hair also prone to frizz? This is normal, although your frizzy strands are probably a lot drier than the rest of your hair. Tame these pesky flyaways with products from the Hydra Therapy range which should get them under control.
