Hair scrub: instructions
Your face and body are not the only parts of your skin which can benefit from exfoliation – your scalp can too! Discover the virtues of the hair scrub thanks to our professional advice.
You exfoliate your face and your body for one reason: to eliminate dead cells for clear and smooth skin. The same can be done for your scalp. “The hair scrub has the same principle as for the body. It consists of purifying the scalp for bright and healthy hair. It is a treatment particularly aimed at people with dandruff. A hair scrub will prevent dandruff and stop it from falling.”
Just like a body scrub, the hair scrub should be done sparingly. As exfoliation has a stripping action, it should not be abused. “If you have a dandruff problem, use the scrub once or twice per week. The more you exfoliate your scalp, the more you will encourage it to produce grease. It’s as if you exfoliate your skin but you don’t moisturise after, it would become dry.”
These hair scrubs come as scrubbing shampoos or pastes and are designed specifically for the scalp. Apply on wet hair in the shower. “On dry hair, it would be too thick and difficult to apply evenly. Basically, it should be used like ordinary shampoo. If you have the time and the opportunity, go to your hairdresser’s as it will be easier for him or her to apply it all over your head. He/he will know where best to apply the scrub.”
Our tip: To optimise your hair scrub, massage your scalp with your fingers by doing circular motions. Do this while applying the scrub to work the scalp, oxygenate it and remove dead cells.
