Flat hair: 5 steps to the rescue
Flat hair can be a real nuisance, but it’s pretty hard to change your hair type. To get full-bodied hair, here are 5 simple beauty steps to follow.
Use hair masks sparingly. Hair masks are a great way of deeply hydrating your hair and leaving it looking super shiny, but they also tend to weigh it down. “If you have fine hair, try not to go over the top with masks. Or apply a small amount to the mid-lengths and ends only for a short amount of time.”
Lift your roots as you dry your hair. To stop your roots sticking to your scalp, you need to learn how to lift them. This starts with the blow-dry. “Put your head upside down and dry your hair like that. Use your fingers to lift the roots.” You could also use a diffuser to distribute the heat more evenly.
Use styling products to build the hair’s fibre. If your hair can’t seem to pump up the volume on its own, give it a boost. “The best thing to do is use a styling mousse on damp hair to add body. This will give it a bit more volume and help hold your style in place.”
Keep the volume in your hair as long as possible. “You have managed to give your hair some volume, and it would be a shame for it not to hold. Don’t forget to use fixing products.” To do this, spray a generous amount of hairspray to your style, holding the can twenty centimetres or so from your hair.
Take dietary supplements. These little capsules will give your hair all the vitamins it needs to grow and strengthen. “Stick to wheat germ-based supplements and continue for three months.”
