Create a messy fishtail plait
Step 1: Wash your hair, then use a comb to draw a neat parting. For a messy side fishtail braid, create a side parting on the side of your choice, whichever suits you best. For a standard fishtail, simply draw a centre parting.
Step 2: Gather your hair up into a ponytail shape, then secure with a hair tie and separate your ponytail into two halves.
Step 3: Take a small section of hair from the outer part of the right section. Pull this stand inwards and underneath to join the left section of your ponytail.
Step 4: Do the same but for the opposite side. Take a small section from the outer part of the left section and bring it underneath to join the right section. Repeat this technique as far down as you want your fishtail end.
Step 5: Try and make sure that the criss crossing sections are all of similar thickness and size to create an even result. For a ‘messy’ look, similar to that seen on the Byblos runway, tease out some sections from the plait.
Step 6: Keep your braid in place all day by spraying evenly with hairspray.
